NEWEST PHOENIX LIGHTS A HOAX?

April 23, 2005
Phoenix, AZ:

It appears that Phoenix once again has another mystery on its hands. Monday April 21st several residents reported seeing four glowing red lights in the evening sky. One witness claimed he saw four to five lights spaced evenly moving slowly east. The US Military when contacted via a spokesperson from Luke Air Force Base, AZ claimed they had no aircraft in the area at that time.

The similarities to the most famous March 1997 Phoenix Lights sighting cannot be lost on us. There is however one difference. There is a possible explanation, which is by no means extraterrestrial. In a report by KTAR in Phoenix we read:

“The man, who did not want to be identified, said he used fishing line to attach road flares to helium-filled balloons, then lit the flares and launched them a minute apart from his back yard. He said he believed tur-bulence created by a passing jet caused the balloons to move around.”

The anonymous claim was backed up by a neighbor, Lino Mailo.

“I saw the guy releasing the balloons with the flares on them," Mailo said. ``There is no doubt that they came from here."

Several researchers such as Stanton Friedman have looked into the incident.
